Back in 2012, a single mother started cooking lunch boxes that were delivered right to people’s door steps in the city of Montreal. This was Soora before it was named Soora.

Eventually this became too time consuming for one person to manage, and she moved onto making kimchi and supplied them to grocery stores within the city. The scale of this grew large enough that she acquired a commercial kitchen, and named her business “Soora”. In Korean it is written as “수라” and was the name given to royal meals presented to the king during the Joseon Dynasty. With a bigger kitchen, she was able to expand the scale of food manufacturing and start operate a catering company. 

In present times, that same single mother is still proudly preparing fresh and authentic Korean cuisine across Montreal.
